Question:
I live in Hutchinson Ks and need a good plastic surgeon
I had open RNY on 3/6/02 and have lost 90 lbs. I have another 118 to get to goal, but I figure 20 of that is excess skin. I had my RNY at Junction City, KS and love my surgeon, his staff and the hospital staff there. I would be willing to go back there for the reconstructive surgery or to Wichita. Can anyone tell me names of plastic surgeons in either location that have worked with WLS patients? I have already started my research of documenting the need for surgery and want to also find possible plastic surgeons. I definitely need an abdominoplasty, brachioplasty and thighs. Would like to have a breast lift also. I have Federal BC/BS insurance and don't know if they will agree on the medical necessity. I could switch to different insurance in November if anyone knows of a different Federal carrier who would cover. Thanks for your help. — jan M. (posted on August 9, 2002)

I know you are looking for someone closer to where you live. But in terms
of finding someone who has experience with gastric bypass patients, Dr.
Nouhan (not sure I have the spelling quite right) in the KC area is quite
good. Email me if you would like me to get more details for you.

I had my RNY in Junction City also. I'm not at the point where I need
plastic surgery yet (I'm only a month post-op). But at the support group
meetings I've heard them talk about Dr. Fisher. I think he works out of
Manhattan, KS. If you go to the meetings I'm pretty sure that he has done
a couple of people's plastic surgery. Maybe if you call Patty or Dr.
Steven's or Bollman's office they could reccomend one. I don't know Dr.
Fisher's first name but I remember seeing something saying that he was
going to start doing stuff at Geary Community Hospital. Sorry I can't
remember more specific details but I hope this helps!

You might want to check with the Plastic Surgery Center on Hillside in
Wichita. I have heard they do good work. Their number is 316-688-7500. I
myself am just trying to get approved for wls. Since you live so close to
me keep intouch. You would probably be able to answere my questions that

Jan and Angie - Please be aware that Wichita has a wls Support Group called
the Air Capital WLS Support Group. In fact, it has a meeting on Tues., Aug.
13, at 7 p.m. at Wesley Hospital, 550 N. Hillside Koch Meeting Rm #A. Some
folks there are quite knowledgeable about plastic surgeons. Maybe you could
attend the meeting.
If that date doesn't work for you, they are meeting at the same place on
Aug. 23. They're going to try to meet two times a month.
