cannot tell yu about why your blood sugar is crashing but as a emt i must warn you to seek medical care and learn why and control it, low blood surgar is far more critical and urgent than high surgar levels, it can cause uncouciosness, loss of motor skills (deadly if your driving)and brain death for lack of glucose , some one may think you are sleeping. diabetes as common as it is ,is very complex and all the anwser here will be guesses. check it out.

I have trouble with this. It's a sometimes side effect of massive weight loss. Reactive hypoglycemia is what it's called. I manage it by avoided all refined carbs, eating plenty of protein with everymeal, and having a protein snack in between. If I eat a high carb meal without enough protein, then in a few hours I crash big time complete with the shakes. Yuck!

I have terrible problems with this. Mine has dropped as low as 33 and 38 before. STAY away from sugar.. it took me 8 months to figure this out...and white carbs do it too... do not eat simple sugar except for fruit..thats it...

It seems to be universal. I'll send you to the grad list, who's not expert on the subject, but most of us deal with this. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG

Hello, I had surgery May 2002 (3 years out now!) and just over the past 6 months, I have noticed hypoglycemic reactions (shaking, dizziness) in mid morning once a month on average. I have peanut butter cracker sandwiches when this happens and it stops after about 2 minutes of eating. I tend to eat sugar and carbs more now than I did the first 2 years, so I know this is probably a connection. I have a sweet tooth and have always loved carb food. I make sure to take all my vitamins, calcium and extra B-12 daily, sometimes twice daily. Best wishes to you on your journmey. Kathy A Collins in MA

Valerie, I have had this problem since about 9 months post-op. It got so bad several times that I almost passed out!!! I found out about Glutamine amino acid about 3 months ago and started using it twice a day. It really helps to keep the blood sugar levels even. Go do some research on it. I use Total Recovery from IDS Sports and have even started selling it to others because I have been so impressed with the results. It helps with so many things including muscle tone, liver enzymes, intestinal health, and so much more. It has made such a difference for me.
