Question:
Can someone please tell me your experience with Mercy Scrips hospital in San Diego?

Hello! I am having my surgery done at Mercy Scripps hospital in San Diego California! And my doctor is Dr. Zorn. I want to know if the people who have had their surgery done there, if you could pretty please tell.. How nice were the people who work there? Do you feel that they took good care of you? Did you have any positive and negative things to say about the place? Can you pretty please let me know anyone? Thanks! :) — Robin H. (posted on March 27, 2003)

Scripps Mercy was wonderful to me. They are fully equipped to handle our special needs and the nurses were helpful and pleasant. My surgery was on 9/11/01 so my stay was a little strange. Mercy is a hospital that was originally founded by Sisters of Mercy. All through the week there were masses and devotions on the hospital loudspeaker so that the staff could participate in the special services for the people in New York, Washington, and Pennsylvania.
I have returned to Scripps Mercy several times to be with people who were coming from out of town to have their surgery with a Pacific Bariatric doctor at Mercy. The staff are always interested in how I am doing and in how their patients progress.
People usually respond well to positive energy. I tried to remember that they were there to help me so I had to help them do that. Courtesy seems to engender returned courtesy. I did as I was asked and took the active role in my own recovery that the doctors had told me would work best. I initiated walks around the floor and the nurses were happy to help me up. Very soon my mobility meant they had to help me less and less.
I will be very surprised if you have any complaints with your care at Mercy. (open RNY9/11/01 -135# from a size 24 to a size 6)

Hi there, first Congrats on your surgery. For me Scripps Mercy was excellent. I have no complaints except for the parking there. It is expensive and always full. I was on the 9th floor where as most bariatrics patients go to the 7th floor. I guess they were full. But even so, everyone was so nice to me. They are great people there and are always there to help. I have nothing but good things to say about the hospital, the staff, and the Doctors of Pacific Bariatric. Good Luck to you! Mercy scripps was a wonderful hospital. The nurses and doctors were excellent. I had my open RNY 10-16-02. The nurses were very caring and always had time for you. An assistant dr. always came by in the morning and the regular Dr. came by in the eveing. I've lost 79 lbs. This surgery has been the best thing for me.
