Question:
Does anyone know of a doctor who performes laparoscopic RNY in the Ala, Tn area?

I live in Huntsville and am looking for a doctor who is skilled in laparoscopic RNY...I am willing to travel to Tn, Georgia, or Mississippi...can anyone suggest a doctor?    — luv2laugh (posted on June 13, 2001)

Michelle, there are several doctors in Birmingham who perform Lap RNYs. They are Dr. Stahl, Dr. Laws, Dr. Clements and Dr. De Witt. Another physician, Dr. Miles, just recently started performing laps as well.

Dr J.K. Champion is in Atlanta and is wonderful and much respected in Lap RNY. He had done over 600 procedures. My surgery is scheduled for 26 June 01 and I am from the St. Louis area. You can find him at www.drchampion.com Good Luck!

May I suggest, Dr. C. Daniel Smith, Chief of the Gastrointestinal Dept @ Emory University Hosptial on Clifton Rd in Atlanta, GA. Dr Smith does only Lap Procedures(has done Open Rny before, but prefers Lap) and very experienced. Not only that, Emory has some of the best Doctors in the country!!Also I would look under the Licensing Board and review the Drs you are considering, to see if there are any sanctions against them!!
