Question:
I had surgery 10 weeks ago and have for the past two days

have been experiencing pain, the pain is located on the front of my abdomin, about 1 inch below the braw line about 1/2 inch up from the incision. I usually message my scar to make sure it heals well.Well when I barley apply any pressure to that area it hurts like HECK!! OUCH !!!, This hurts all the time, it's tender to the touch, it makes walking on the treadmill hurt since ( the boobs bounce a liitle) (What I have left) Last night I put a heating pad on it to see if that would help, it lessoned the pain but was back again by mid afternoon. The pain is contstant when touched, drinking or eating doesn't affect the way it already feels. and There are no lumps or knots in the tummy where the pain is comming from. I haven't had any problems or pain up until this point. This all started yesterday, I didn't do anything to stretch it, at least I don't think so, I've been exercising regularly, and doing about 30 situps every other day. The DH thinks it might be the situps. But I didn't do any of them yesterday. I thought myabe it was a stricture ? but I'm still able to eat and drink, as I've been really careful after reading all the posts about them, I don't really want one.... Please if you've had the same pain let me know. P.s. I'm 10 weeks post of and down 63 pounds.    — tannedtigress (posted on August 7, 2002)

Pain that is sharp enough and lasts long enough to cause you concern merits a call to your doctor.

It is not a stricture, you only know about those with eating, and by the way, there is no way to prevent one. Please call your doc. It could be as simple as scar tissue, or an inflamed internal suture. OR it could be something more serious. Your doc needs to diagnose you, not your AMOS buddies!!

Hi Dawn.... I had the same thing. I am 4 months post and down 66# and doing great. But about the same point as you I had that pain, tenderness, etc. and was told it is at the point where they use retractors to hold open the incision for surgery and takes longer to heal. I still have tenderness in that area but no longer constant pain. But...since we all are different, you should run this by your physician to make sure nothing else is going on. My best to you.

I am 5 1/2 months post op and experience they same type of pain in the same area. I think my pain is from scar tissue but have left a message for the nurse @BTC to call me. About the sit ups..my dr suggested I not do situps until after 3 months, and suggested that when I start doing them at that time to use one of those big exercise balls when doing the situps. I'm still leary about doing situps though just because of the discomfort I still have at the top of my incision.

Hi Everyone, Thanks For responsing, well I went to my doctor's today, and she states that I don't have a hernia, how-ever I might have bruised the muscle, she gave me a little something for pain and sent me on my way.
