Question:
Anyone have pain/discomfort taking the medications for H-Pylori?

I was diagnosed with H-Pylori when I had my bloodwork done. I had been haviing intermittent vomiting in the morning for years, but blamed it on the fact that my gallbladder had been removed 10 yrs prior and that I had probably eaten to much fatty food the day before or if I had eaten just before going to bed I would vomit. Well since I started the medication I have had some pain/discomfort in my stomach & abdominal area. Is this common because the medicine is fighting the parasite or what? Thank you in advance for any help/advice. :)    — Lilackitten (posted on November 10, 2002)

Yes it does seem to be an affect of the medicine. I to was worried I had severe cramps like and was so sick at my stomach after taking the meds I didn't know what to do. It worked I had the scope last Monday and it is gone so now my surgery is this Wed. Be patient and handle the best you can for those two weeks it will get better. Good luck. Alicia

what you are taking is an antibiotic, and yes, all antibiotics can make you have stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting. Just the nature of the beast. And just for clarification sake, H. Pylori is a bacteria, not a parasite!!
