Question:
Were any of you diagnosed as having hypothyroidism before Surgery?

I would like to know if any of you were dx as having hypothyroidism before ungoing surgery and if so, how is the weight loss progress going? Do you think your weight loss is slower than most?    — Lillian J. (posted on March 26, 2003)

I was diagnosed around 5 months before surgery. I had to have my medication adjusted a few times before surgery and then it has been fine since. I do take a lower dosage now then I did originally. I am almost 8 months (3/28) and have lost 96-1/2 so far. i think I'm a little slower than most but not doing too bad. I also have to admit I am not the world's best exerciser... Good luck .

I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism a few years before my surgery. I guess I didn't put it together, but I have been a little slower than most, not much, but enough to be frustrating sometimes. I am 6 months out and have lost 78.5 pounds. I saw my doc today, and we have decided to follow the "pouch rules for dummies." He thinks the water loading is best, now that I'm 6 months out. Good luck!
