Question:
How long does it take to get an aproval from United Health Care??

UHC got all my paperwork and opened a pre-cert case on me Friday, May 9th. When I spoke to them last Friday, the rep said that they had everything they needed. All that was left was for the nurse to review the case and give an anwser. Does anyone know how long this process takes?? I know I should just "chill" and be patient, but it is so hard. Am I looking at one week, two weeks, three weeks, or more??    — S A. (posted on May 12, 2003)

Hello. Hang in there. My approval only took about 10 days from the day they received the letter. I have UHC POS. I called everyday to the Care Coordination Dept. to check the status. Maybe my *persistance* helped them move things along? Good Luck!

I have UHC PPO Tennessee, and you'd be supprised how quickly they will resopond. I had everything turned in on feb 12, called feb 15 to get the status, and was called feb 20 by the nurse at the doc's office to set up the surgury.

I got my approval in 5 days. Their internal 'requirement' is 10 business days, from what I remember. But sometimes they are ahead or behind depending on the ammount of requests.

From the day my paper work and requirements were submitted by my Dr.'s office, it took 23 days exactly (including weekends and holidays)... I didn't think it was too bad, but I sure did hate waiting! UHC ROCKS!
