Question:
Could this be gas pains?

I am about 6 weeks post-op. I have generalized pain that seems to be about 3 inches under my breasts and sometimes even goes all around, even to my back. It's an achy, sickly feeling. It goes away when I lay on my left side. It isn't constant, but it happens often enough and long enough to be a concern. I have already had the "VQ" test for bloodclots and it was negative (thank the Deity) so I know it isn't that. I just wondered if anyone else has this type of pain and what helps it.    — LM O. Have you had your gall bladder removed? If not, the pain you're having sounds very suspicious of a gall bladder attack. If you notice that the pain usually occurs after a meal and lasts for several hours then you might want to schedule an appointment to have an ultrasound done. Good luck!

Ask your doctor to look at your gall bladder. Gall stone pain can radiate through to the back. Even if nothing shows up, you could still have damage to your gall bladder. Mine nearly ruptured before I could get anyone to do anything about it. You can die from a ruptured gall bladder, but it's not typical in WLS patients. Just a warning to tell you and everyone out there reading this that such things can happen. Another thing is if you have a form of gastritis (sp?) it can cause an irritated pouch. I have severe pain when I try to drink. Previcid helps it. One thing that will help you doctor is to try to identify the time of day when this happens. Does the pain start after you eat, how soon after, more in the morning than at night, etc.???? Good luck! Leigh
