Question:
Did anyone try Rogaine for women?

If so, did it work? I'm almost 5 months post-op and losing hair like crazy! Thanks alot~    — jengrz (posted on April 13, 2003)

Rogaine might help and then again it might not. The important thing to know about hair loss is that it does stop and the hair does come back in. I lost a lot about 4 months out, but it has all come back in. I had my hair cut really short, although I've worn it short for years, and I've had a ton of compliments on it. You won't go bald, I promise.

The important thing to remember about Rogaine is if you are a person who perspires a lot during warm weather, then you will grow strange facial hair where the perspiration runs. This hair loss is temporary. My advice would be to find a good stylist who will give you something to work with while going throught the transition. I went short when the hair started to get thin. My head and face are so much smaller now that it looks great. I never tire of hearing how fantastic I look.

The hairloss is temporary but I had a lot of luck with Nioxin products. I get mine from my hair dresser. It really works for me!

Yes- I use Rogaine and am 19 mos post op. I also use nioxin products. My hair was thinning on top prior to surgery, but I definitely see less of a problem while consistent with Rogaine. But decide to use it essentially forever . You cannot stop and start unless hair loss is specifically related to gastric bypass surgery. Good LUck
