Question:
I would like to know if anyone knows anything good or bad about my surgen

I like my surgen Dr.Wongsa in Houston,Tx.however he was honest enough to tell me he has only done 52 Lap/bypasses. He's been a general surgen for many many years. I feel comfortable with him.He told me he was very selective about his patients and that he does not do "Production Line Surgery"when it comes to this type of surgery.PLEASE if anyone has any information please let me know!!THANKS JILL    — jill Q. I think you need to go with a surgeon with much more WLS experience. My surgeon has literally done hundreds, and one thing I have read time and time again is that experience is crucial.

I met with Dr. Wongsa in Feb 2001, who was one of 4 local surgeons I consulted with. Of the ones I have met with so far: he impressed me the most. Now he has performed 100+ surgeries and I can certainly appreciate what people say about going to a more experienced surgeon but let's remember this: ALL SURGEONS START SOMEWHERE. I hope to have Dr. Wongsa handle my surgery because of all the doctors I spoke with, he seemed to really understand my concerns medically and personally. He did not treat me as just a number or as another checkmark in his list of patients. I was approved by my insurance company last week and will be making my final decision on which surgeon to use
