Question:
I was given the okay to switch from flinstone chew vitamins to a regular vitamin.

The problem I am encountering is that all the vitamins are too large. I have to have a multi vitamin with minerals. When I split the pills, I get sick to my stomach I think from the iron. Anybody know of any good vitamins with minerals that are as small as a plain M&M?? Thanks in advance!    — Jeanne P. (posted on August 1, 2001)

Although this won't help you right now, I have some news........I went to a support group meeting in June and the leader of the meeting and my surgeon had just got back from the bariatric surgeons conference in Washington. A company ( vitavites I think is the name) is coming out with a vitamin package JUST for gastric Bypass patients. The vitamins are in packaged daily doses. No more guess work. Plus, they are small and are chewable. Everything we need........they are SUPPOSED to be available sometime this month , if I remember right. You can ONLY get these from your doctor and your support group leader. The cost is about $70 for a 2 month supply........

I'm sorry, but...$35 per month for vitamins is just too much! I can't believe for a second that it costs the drug company anywhere close to that to produce this product. I'll bet you at least $30 of that is pure profit, and that ticks me off! Almost all of the vitamin packages, including those 'especially' for women, are two or three times as much as if you purchased the supplements seperately instead of packaged up so "conveniently". Ticks me off. I'm sick of being taken advantage of.

My nutritionist recommends Centrum A-Z and a separate iron supplement. Is the vitamin too large for you to feel comfortable swallowing it? You can probably stay with chewables if that works better. I've also heard there's a prenatal called Natachews, but it's a prescription.

I took Natachews when I was pregnant. They are good, but have a BAD aftertaste. I watched my OB eat one becasue I wouldn't chew it first..LOL! :) He commented about the aftertaste too....on my next visit. Good luck
