Question:
How soon can you move around after a tummy tuck

I am having surgery on Oct 1 for a tummy tuck. I have severe lymphedema in both of my legs. I cannot walk very well now and am afraid it will be much more difficult afterwards.Any suggestions would be very helpful.    — Carol M. (posted on September 14, 2001)

I had a Tummy Tuck on 8/14/01. I had 18 pounds of skin removed. I am happy to say that it was one of the easiest surgeries that I have ever had. I was up and walking within a few hours and went home the next morning. I could have gone home the same day and I would have been fine. I was sore but no pain at all. I never got tired like I did with the RNY. I was able to go shopping within a few days. I hope this helps.

I "only" had 6 lbs of skin removed with my TT but had the same experience as Donna. Was back to work in a week and had my neck lifted and implants (breast) at the same time. My biggest problem with this procedure was getting in and out of the surgical garment and finding one that fit and supported the area properly. I'm tall (5'11") and long waisted and they were too big or small or kept rolling down or otherwise irritate the incision. Glad to be rid of "support garments" as they are a giant pain in the tummy LOL. With my flat stomach now I see what normal women see in thongs!

I had my abdominoplasty on 9-5-01, almost 2 weeks ago. I am doing so much better than I had expected. I was prepared. I had meals cooked and frozen in advance, I had friends lined up to help the first 4 days at home, but I think I would have been fine anyway. I had two drains in, one was removed last week, the other will be removed next week. They are a pain. They're in the way when showering, dressing, etc. But I can deal with it, and personally while my "skin" weighed only 7 1/2 lbs (the surgeon said with fluid, etc., I should expect a 10 lb weight loss)I would definately do it again. I love the results! Good Luck!
