Question:
How many days in advance at maximum can this be done?

I am scheduled for surgery 8-30-99 and the hospital scheduled my pre-admission testing for 8-26-99. The problem is that I will be away on vacation that week. Is it too far is advance of surgery to request it be rescheduled for 8-20-99, which is 10 days prior to surgery?    — Terri B. (posted on July 11, 1999)

You would have to check with the hospital on what they require, but I had mine done about 7 days prior to surgery. My trip to the hospital is two hours away. We were going to be going right past there on our way out of town about a week prior to surgery and they didn't seem to have a problem doing it then so I didn't have to make the trip again.

I'm not sure how far in advance you can do it, but I had mine done the afternoon before my surgery. Maybe you can do it the day before instead of 4 days in advance.

You need to ask the hospital how far ahead lab work can be drawn. The Doctor should know the hospitals Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, but to be on the safe side I was check with the pre-op nurse at the hospital as that is a hospital specific policy. Diane
