Question:
Can anyone tell me about Pacific Bariatrics...
Im wondering if anybody knows how far out Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego, CA. is scheduling for surgery? For example..From the time they recieve your approval, how long do you have to wait for a surgery date? — mastrnservnt (posted on January 1, 2002)

I believe its 3 months but I may be wrong there. You can call them
directly and they will give you an estimate.

I agree with the anonomous poster. I called and they told me a similar
estimate however I chose not to go through them. I am having Dr. Nazarian
in Beverly Hills perform my surgery. They are very speedy from what I have
read. I won't know for sure until thursday when I go to my consult
appointment.

Hello there, I was just approved in August through Kaiser, and they
referred me to PB.. in San Diego. I had a consult with Dr. Tanaka in
November 8th, 2001. I met with the internest and a nutritionist and a
psych doc. They were all made for the same day.. (since me and my friend
were from out of town, she is having her surgery Jan 18, 2002)
I heard back from them about 1 1/2 weeks later with a date for surgery.. it
was for Jan 9, 2002. I had heard that they were scheduling for Feb or
March of 2002. So , when they called and told me Jan 9 I was SO
HAPPY!!!!.. SO, it depends when you get approved and if they have other
openings... I heard that PB is great.. Dr. Tanaka is very detailed and
extremely precise in surgery.. I am looking forward to having my surgery by
him next week... They are Terrific.. and they will get you in soon... the

Hi there...I don't know about the current schedule; however, when I had my
surgery at Pacific Bariatric in July 2001....I waited seven days from
approval to get my surgery date...and my date was 32 days after that. So,
although I had been on the path since February and it felt like it was
taking forever, it really didn't. And, it gave me time to get my things in
order. My profile has a day-by-day journal of what I experienced waiting
for approval/testing/surgery. Surgery date was 7/17/01 - as of this
morning, I'm down 73.3 pounds!! Dr. Rumsey was my surgeon. I can not say
enough good things about him or the practice - they were fantastic from
beginning to end!! Best of luck to you!

I recieved my surgery date 1 week after I recieved approval.My date was
then 3 weeks after that. I have nothing but good to say about P.B. they are
wonderful. I had Dr. Mary Murphy and she was great.

Im the poster of this question and I just wanted to Thank You all for
responding..I feel much better now knowing that I wont have to wait months
and months for a surgery date. Again Thank You..Your all wonderful!!
