Question:
Have had belly pain on and off for 2 months now worse why?

It is right below the bottom of my bra. Right in the center and it burns! I had my gallbladder out. Oh, i am also 5 months out. (open rny) Also the oast week or so when i eat when i do have these pains i end up throwing up the first few bites or drinks. After i get sick i can continue to eat and be fine for a few hours. I called my surgeon today and he is prescribing me some meds for an ulcer. I am in pain alot here the past few days. I took some Pepcid AC like he told me but it only keeps the pain away for a few hours. Any suggestions??? Thank you. lorie    — lorie bolden (posted on October 16, 2004)

Sounds like a definant ulcer. Where You described is exactly where our pouch is. I would think He would have put You on something stronger like nexium or atleast ordered an endoscope or upper gi. best wishes.

I was haveing the same problem except i would eat or drink and feel good for 3 days and on the 4th day i would vomit so much i thought it was comeing from my toes i would only get sick once but Honestly 3 days worth of food and liquid would come back, My dr sent me for an Upper Gi wich showed the opening to my pouch was to small, so then i was sent for an endoscope wich the GI dr found my pouch had healed over with scar tissue and nothing was passing through, He dilated the opening to my pouch and thank god so far ll has been good and its been over a month now . I am 3 months post op . Goodluck Roxanne

You might try Prilosec OTC. I had the same type pain several months ago. My surgeon suggested trying Prilosec to see if it worked. Although the directions on the box said to take only one a day, he told me to take one in the morning and one in the evening. After the first day, I noticed a difference. By the third day, the pain was gone. I continued to take two per day for a couple of weeks and then backed off to one per day. After about six weeks, I tried taking it as needed. The pain went away and has not returned.

I agree with the first poster, I don't understand why your doctor didn't prescribe something better than an OTC acid reducer. I've had two ulcers and they laughed at Pepsid...I'm certain I can hear laughter from those ulcers!

I am not saying this is the problem, but I had the same symptoms for somewhere around 4 months. I was diagnosed with having ulcers but come to find out that was not the problem. I had h-pylori infection (not sure about the spelling). Like the others that posted, I would think an upper G.I. or an EGD would have been ordered. If nothing is helping I would talk to the doctor again very soon.

Thank you everyone for all your answers. I did call me surgeon and i have an appointment on November 10th. I started taking the Pepcid AC and so far (knock on wood) so good! I'm still once in a while getting sick on the first 2-3 bites and afterwards i am fine to eat. BUT I think THAT maybe my fault. i think i am getting over anxious and eating too fast. At least my tummmy feels better. Hopefully though it isn't an ulcer! Thaks again! lorie bolden
