Question:
What is the best Complete Multi-Vitamin?

I need to know if there is a Complete Multi-Vitamin pill that I can take at almost 2 months post-op. The chewable & liquids make me nausea.    — ibelong2randall (posted on November 8, 2004)

I take the pre-natal vitamins and I can take a regular size calcium with vitamin D. If it's too large for you, you could break it in half. BEWARE of Viactiv as your calcium supplement. It is calcium carbonate, not calcium Citrate. It is like candy but all research I've seen indicates that we do not absorb carbonate as well as we do citrate.

I do not take pills any more. I use Vitamist spray vitamins - They make b, multi, iron, and several products that supply everything we need. I love them and they are very affordable because you get 100% of what you take with Vitamist - no waste. If you need more info you can email me [email protected]. I am one of the ones that took pills and unless they were chewed up - they came right back out pretty much whole when I went to the restroom. That scared me very badly and when I learned we may malabsorb 75% of everything we take orally, I had to get a better solution for my health. For me it was true we mal absorb-I had visual proof my pills were not breaking down! I switched to spray vitamins over a year ago and my labs are perfect now. I can donate blood so I am not anemic, all my levels are normal so I am in great shape! I love Vitamist and really endorse their products. They are so supportive of Bariatric surgery and are doing lots of research and coming up with new products all the time. Email me if you want some info- I'll be glad to help you or any one that wants the help.

My dietitian suggested that I take a store brand that mimics the formula in Centrum (or the actual Centrum, but the store brands are less expensive for the same thing). I'm 19 months out, and so far that seems to work well for me.

I couldn't do pills for about the first 3 months... Now I take Walgreens A-Z complete vites and CALCIUM CITRATE w/ D and CALCIUM CITRATE w/ Magnesium....and a sublingual B-12. The vites and calcium are really easy for me to take...not too big. The Member's Mark brand from Sam's seems to be pretty good too. OH!! I did a test in case anyone's interested.....:) The results: The Walgreen vite melted in water in 5 min and 35 seconds The calcium took 45 seconds. I would think they would absorb fairly quick.....I just heard this somewhere that whatever you take should be able to "melt" in water in 10min or less. Tracy -152lbs
