Question:
Has anyone had surgery by Dr. Vierra at Stanford CA?

I would like to know if anyone has had surgery by Dr. Vierra at Stanford. I have been approved for surgery by him and am waiting for insurance okay. I just haven't found anyone who has had him as a surgeon.    — Dot W. (posted on July 21, 1999)

Hi Diane, Looks like were are in the same boat. He has also approved me for Roux and Y Laparoscopic procedure. I have heard from nurses that he is an expert in his field. But, like you I have not met one of his WLS patients post op. Hope someone replys. Jeannette Cheeks

I have been a patient of Dr. Vierra's since the beginning of the year. I had heard many negative things about his bedside manner and went in with that expectation. Was I surprised to find the total opposite. At first he was very business-like but then very much warmed up. In fact, he insisted on the next visit that my daughter be with me so she could understand about the surgery. She has suffered anorexia/bulimia and he was worried about how she would feel about it. My surgery is scheduled for June 21 and I couldn't be any happier with any other doctor. However, I do wish he had a support group himself, especially for post ops.
