Question:
Can any one give me additional info on Dr. Ostroff and the other Dr. that he works?

I am scheduled to meet with Dr. Ostroff on Aug. 17 for my consult. I am authorized for two add'l follow ups. How is he, and how is the surgeon that he works with, because we see him then the other dr. performs the surgery. Also, how long between first consult til surgery for you. Their office told me they only meet with two patients a week, is that two new? or just two? One that has gone through UCSF MED CENTER, please respond. Thank you for your time. Hello Patricia, It sounds like I am a few steps ahead of you. I am also going through UCSF MED CENTER for my surgery. I had my appointment with Dr. Ostriff's office. I saw the Nurse Practitioner Karen Bagatelos. I was told I needed to loose 10% of my body weight. This didn't seem fair, and I didn't know if I could. Now that it is done, I understand several reasons why it is necessary and I am actually glad I did. After I lost my weight I faxed the documentation to Karen. Her office called and asked me to schedule a appointment for a psychiatric evaluation, cardiac evaluation and a sonogram of the abdomen. I am now waiting for all the tests to get back to my PCP and he will send them on to Dr. Ostroff along with a referal for me to see Dr. Marco Patti the surgeon (I have PacifiCare HMO and this is the way it has to be done, one step at a time). It is my understanding that once the paperwork is in Ostroff's office I can make an appointment with Dr. Patti, I don't know if he will have more tests for me, but his office is the one who schedules the surgery. Hope this helps give you an idea of the procedure. Good luck. linda lu
