With the recipe for the cheesecake it has over 200 grams of carbohydrates, how can post ops eat that many carbs at any given time? I thought you were supposed to limit the carbs to a lot less than that? Just wondering because I'm in the process of having the surgery but I was told to limit carbs drastically.

I don't have a specific recipe for *Guilt-Free Cheesecake*, but I would be interested in seeing the recipe though...is it reduced fat and I assume sugar-free or under 2g of sugar per serving? There's another cheesecake recipe with cherry topping in a recipe book at: http://www.freewebs.com/recipes-after-rny

I found a low-fat, sugar-free (uses Splenda) lime cheesecake recipe that was GREAT! Nice and light for summer with a hint of lime taste. It's on www.splenda.com under desserts. Also has a nutrition listing for it on that page.

A cheesecake, made with regular (full fat) cream cheese, and Splenda, no crust, has almost *no carbs*.
The sugery makes us malabsorb some fats, and if you subscribe to the Atkins or Somersize philosophies, you aren't worried about the fat, anyway. Some posties, however, will dump on fat, so watch it.
If I have had my protein supps, have eaten a hi-protein meal, I don't dump on fat. But have dumped from being low on protein, then putting fat into an empty system. Yuck!
As to the comment that the recipe has 200 grams of carbs, MY GOD, woman, you're NOT going to eat the *whole thing*! Even with the hi-carb crust, a couple tablespoons full is prolly pretty safe.

I make a very easy one. Regular size pie pan: 2 packages 1/3 fat cream cheese 2 eggs 16 packets of Splenda 1 teaspoon Vanilla Bleand it all together with an electric beater until creamy. Pour in pie pan - with or without crust bake for 40 - 45 minutes at 350 degrees. To make a smaller one, half all the ingredients, 1 packe cream chesse, one egg, 8 packs Splenda and 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla. I made this for the work party and it was gone fast. Everyone loved it and it is simple to make. I make it with the Keebler ready made crust, and then I just don't eat most of the crust.

Just a comment regarding Victoria's question about the carbs...I'll bet you looked at it like this: 253mg Carbohydrate -- 13g Protein. It's actually only 13 of carb, not 253 mg. :P

Susan Maria has two excellent cheesecake recipes on her www.bariatriceating.com website. I have made both the Pineapple and Chocolate Chip Cookie Crusted Chocolate chip cheesecake and both are super delicious. I will take the Pineapple to my family for Christmas dinner. All of her recipes that I have tried are superb.
