Question:
Is it normal for your stomache to hurt when swallowing food 1 week post op?

I believe it would be normal. I don't know what instructions you were given, but I was just switching to full liquids at 1 week post op. I wasn't to swallow any food at all.

My surgeon's patients don't get any solic food until week 5.. and that's soft food. But, I would imagine that any food you eat so soon should be very soft, mushy foods...scrambled eggs, mashed veggies, pureed meets etc. Maybe what you are eating is too tough and/or not mashed enough.
