Question:
Has anyone tried the Bariatric Supplement System?

I received an e-mail from a gentleman who previously had proximal RNY. He suggested BARIATRIC SUPPLEMENT SYSTEM to ensure adequate amounts of vitamins/minerals to stay healthy. Has anyone heard or tried this system? I ordered my first 2-month supply to try, but wondered if I am wasting my $$. If anyone wants to check it out, the web address is bariatricsupplementsystem.com.    — Cindy T. (posted on March 23, 2002)

Cindy, I'm so glad you asked this question as I too had recieved this e-mail. I am considering placing an order, since my new insurance co. as of 3/1 (Kaiser) doesn't believe in B-12 injections. I am looking forward to reading the answers. Great question!!

I think we all got this email. I'm leary of mass mailings. This guy sounded too sencere. Please check with your DR before you start these kind of programs. He'll know if they are real or a waste of money. Good Luck

I would save my money. I use a store brand name multivitamin(same ingredients as centrum but half the price) and the sublingual b12 is inexpensive too. just as good as the shots and no stinging shot

I too recieved the email and I did try the vitamins and they really do work I have been taking the vitamins right after post op. I can really tell the difference. Yes you could save money, and I did stray away for about a month, but believe me I could tell the difference. So try it for yourself and see if your satisfied with the product, and if not let them know...just my opion.

I had open RNY on 1/21/04, and have been using Bariatric Supplement Systems since then. My labs were fabulous, but I admit: I hated their sublingual B-complex. It didn't taste good, and lasted too long in my mouth. I also had them send me refills automatically, then changed it (I was bad about taking the after-meals pills, but better about taking the once-daily pills, so I had too many of one kind), and they kept up with all my changes. I have had great success, and it's worth the money. Store bought vitamins aren't enough for us, and the deficiencies may not show up for a year or more. It's not worth it; that's the price we agreed to pay when we had surgery: to take vitamins and supplements for the rest of our lives. -Lesa

I've been using Bariatric Supplement System since January of 2002. I had my Open RNY 08/01. It works great for me and I feel like the pills are easy to swallow.

I hate to admit this, but I have taken the Bariatric Supplement System off and on for years. I will take it a few months then get mad about the expense and try to go to Centrum or the Flinstones and I start feeling bad or get tired or sometimes I get yeast infection under breast and I am always thinking, it must be because I got off the Bariatric Supplement system vitamins. I keep doing that off and on thinking it is in my imagination or it is a coincidence, but anyway, for some reason I feel bad when I don't take then and good when I take them. So, for the twentieth time I am back on them. I hate to spend the money, but I hate feeling bad too. I don't know what the difference is as far as from one vitamin to the next but they have made a difference for me over the last nine years.
