This depends on your surgeon's schedule and what other consults are required by your insurance. My doctor was ready to schedule me two weeks after my consult. I needed a bit more time than that to get myself ready for this, but ended up having surgery about a month after my first consult.

My first consult was July 2, 1999 and I am now scheduled for surgery on 9/22/99. My doctor was scheduled out over 2 months anyway and that was enough time to get insurance approval. Good luck!

Sandy, one thing to consider is whether your surgeon will schedule you for surgery now and hope your insurance approval comes in time, or if he wants to have your insurance approval in writing before he gives you a surgery date. I had to wait about six weeks to get approval from my insurance company, then another three months after that till my surgery date. Good Luck!
