Question:
I'm having some pain across my abdomen. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi. For several weeks now I've had some pain across my abdomen. It may only last a morning or it could last 2-3 days at a time. It feels like someone has hauled off and punched me right smack in the gut. I have a hard time standing up straight and it is relieved when I'm sitting down or bending over slightly, and Tylenol does help as a rule. It's not limited to my incision area, but the main pain is a little right of and above my navel. Yes, I did call my doctor and was told that it's probably muscle strain. I'm exercising ("sweatin' to the oldies" with Richard Simmons) about 20 minutes a day and believe me, I put all I've got into it. It kinda feels like that area is "bruised". I'm a little concerned and just wonder if anyone else has experienced this. I'm 11 weeks post op, open RNY proximal and down 42#. Thanks so much for your comments.    — cj T. I was told that that was from the surgery because they were in there moving things around pulling tugging, etc. etc. also you are healing there and that takes time. They were doing lots of things to your insides and what you rare experiencing is perfectly normal. Glad to hear that you are exercising........... That will make all the difference in the world. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. dawn

I am having the same problem! I am six 1/2 weeks Post Op and my pain is in the exact same place. I do believe it is muscle strain and I also asked my dr and that is what he said. It is in the exact location that I had a "clamp", I think that is what it was called. Hope you are better soon! :0

The problom could be atrophy (s?) a sort of shrinking of the bypassed organs, this is happening to me and my doctor gave me a script for Bentyl ( antispasmodic ) it took care of the problom.
