Question:
Became VERY sick and didn't eat any of the forbidden foods
Yesterday, through out the entire day, I ate peanuts(morning), pickle, hard bread stick, no sugar added applesauce (late afternoon) and sugar/fat free pudding(evening). I had awful pain, vomiting, and diarehha for several hours. I have never dumped before but this seemed like what I had heard dumping described is. In the morning I did eat alot of peanuts but this didn't happen until about 10 hours later. Why would this have happened? — Vicki D. (posted on November 12, 2001)

This doesn't sound like dumping. Dumping usually occurs 10-30 minutes
after eating. That's why it is called dumping. It dumps into the
intestines, makes the blood pressure drop, sometimes causes vomitting and
diarhea. For me, I get the shakes and feel faint. I don't vomit nor have
diarhea... It may just be that you had a bug or ate something didn't agree
with you; but dumping doesn't happen 10 hours later.

wonder if WHAT your eating might be it..i mean it sounds kinda
"hard" on the stomach...i think i'd try softer foods for awhile
and blend them ...like chicken or some cottage cheese or something!!! Not
so "hard" foods. just a guess.

My guess is that it was the pudding you had that evening. You may have
developed a lactose intolerance since surgery, many people who have RNY do.
The milk in the pudding could very well be the problem. How soon after
the pudding did it happen? You could test yourself with some milk, but you
may not want to go through that again!
