Question:
Anyone have a Lap RNY at the Wish Center in Downers Grove, IL?

Can anyone give me their personal stories regarding their Lap RNY which was performed at the Wish Center in Downers Grove, IL? I'm really nervous that the Center has only performed around 100 Lap RNY's. Maybe this will help me decide between a Lap or Open RNY! Thanks!!!    — [Anonymous] (posted on January 9, 2002)

Hi, No, I didn't have my Lap RNY in Downers Grove, IL, but that town caught my eye. I grew up in Chicago for 30 years before moving to WV. I just had my Lap RNY in Charlottesville VA at the Univeristy of VA Hosp. My surgery was Nov. 2nd and I am down 40 lbs. as of Jan. 2nd. I only weigh myself once a month to avoid being depressed about those "plateaus". But you can research your surgeon on this site. I'd say you are in good hands. 100 is alot of surgeries. My surgeon is the teacher of the surgery, so I felt really confident with him and that's why I chose to travel to him. I do feel you are making a great choice with the Lap RNY, however.
