Question:
Please help with question on pain in chest after eating and drinking

I am 3 1/2 week post-op (RYN). I have been doing great until the last 5 days and then I started hurting really bad in my chest after eating and now even after drinking my protein. I just vomited and cannot get in my protein. I was wondering if anyone had this problem and what was done to fix it. Thank you so much! God Bless!    — Crystal D. (posted on April 28, 2002)

This is the perfect explination of what I felt at 3 weeks and 8 weeks post-op. I had strictures both times and I would be willing to bet that you have one now. Contact your surgeon, pcp or gastroenterologist (sp?) and tell them you believe you have a stricture and you need to see about scheduling an endoscopy with possible dialation. Don't worry, the solution is so much easier to deal with than the initial problem is. Good Luck~

Calling about the stricture is a good idea. I have the problem intermittently and in my case it is ALWAYS related to eating or drinking too fast or not chewing my food well enough. God's Blessings

I had a horrible pain in my chest when I didn't chew some spaghetti noodles enough. It resulted in vomiting. It was the only time I've vomited. Almost felt like I thought a heart attack would feel. Yours does sound like a stricture problem (I assume that you're chewing your food enough).
