Question:
ARE OTHERS HAVING NAUSEA EVERYTIME YOU EAT

2 1/2 months post-op and nauseous everytime I eat. It doesn't matter what I eat or how well I chew. I'm not throwing up just constantly sick to my stomach. Dr. has prescribed several meds but nothing helps.    — Linda D. (posted on June 29, 2002)

Linda, Yes I went through the same thing. It will pass. I think until I was about 3 months post-op everything and I mean everything made me sick. I am now 4 months and feeling wonderful. I never thought it would get better, but it did. Keep your chin up.

Hi Linda! Some tricks that I learned (I'm 4 months post): after eating, have something minty... like a wintergreen lifesaver or tictac. Ginger pills too can help to settle stomach, or even a sip of ginger ale (if you can find the real stuff, even better). I've also done Pepcid and Prilosec- Prolisec works best for me. These might help to get rid of some of the nausea. =) Sarah

YEP!!! I'm only 4 weeks post-op, (-35 lbs.) but I've decited to just give up eating all together...LOL... It doesn't matter what it is, it makes me feel like crap! Like I'm in the first stages of the flu or something. A fellow WLS friend of mine is a little more than 2 mos. out and is having the same trouble. I haven't found a solution yet, I just hope that eventually it goes away!! GOOD LUCK!!

Yes, i am having that problem also (3 months post-op). almost everything i eat makes me sick to my stomach. sometimes i start to eat something and think it tastes really good, and then after the 2nd or 3rd bite of it i feel nausea and cant eat anymore of it. i am hoping this problem will go away soon. although it helps me to not overeat. hahaha.

Hi... I had this too but earlier. What worked for me is getting in more protein...Try Extreme Pure Pro which is a juice like drink by American Body Building... Comes in grape and punch. Tastes good. But what really worked with that was drinking hot peppemint tea (Celestial Seasonings has a good one) with a little Splenda. I nursed it first thing in am and through day and in evening. It settled the nausea right down. Now I drink less tea at 3 months and lots of water. But the nausea is gone. If the nausea continues tell your Dr. as he can give you anti-nausea meds such as Zofran. Good luck to you.

How does water taste? Have you had an EGD?

what is an EDG? OMG, i thought i was reading my own post. Everything makes me sick too.. i am getting all my liquid and protein in (smoothies!) but anything i have that is solid makes me sick, and the nausea never stops. i am 10 weeks post-op (-50#). i see the doc in a week and a half, and i hope we can figure something out then. i have have pancreatitis and have gallstones, so i worry about what is going on "in there" ;) it seems in the in the support group i go to (approx. 50 people), no one else is having this problem, which is not really reassurring ;(
