Question:
Need med records back to '98, any suggestions?

Hi all. First, thanks for taking time to read. I have BC/BS of NC Blue Options. The surgeon's office submitted paperwork to them in Sept. of '02. They called today and said they needed medical records back to '98. I have already faxed everything I could back to '99 but they assure me that the only way of getting approved is having proof of '98. I never seen a doctor or went to a weight loss facility in '98 so no records exist. Has anyone had this problem before or does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do. Thanks a lot. All info and suggestions are extremely appreciated. Last chance for me.    — Christina D. (posted on January 15, 2003)

I had a similar problem. Go back to 1997 or 1996. You have to dig and the ins company won't budge without that info. At least my wouldn't.

I had the same problem.(actually worse!) I had NO med records at all!! Aside from the Ob/Gyn, I hadn't seen a "Doctor" in YEARS. During my appeal, BTC even told me I had no chance of getting an approval w/out these (my ins. co. also wanted last 5 years). I just wrote a letter explaining that I had not even seen a "regular" Dr. in more than 5 years, and the records(from June02-Nov02) I had were ALL I HAD!! It must have worked, I received my approval letter Jan.3rd. Good luck. :o)
