Other than the Dr's already mentioned here, the only other WLS surgeon that I know of in SA is Dr Michael Walters, but he only does VBG. Don't know if he takes your insurance, but if the VBG is something you would consider, he usually gets appointments set within a couple of months, not years!

Tracy, if I were you and wanted to use Pilcher or Reiss (SA Surgical Consultants) don't let the seminar dates of 2004 scare you off. I had an original seminar date that was moved up several months...infact by the time the ORIGINAL date rolled around, I was already two months post-op! In addition, I have a friend who was orginally scheduled for a seminar in June 2004. She's already been moved up three times...now at this point her seminar appointment is in April of this year. My doc is Selinkoff (he's "retired" and is now only assisting in surgery) but, I highly recommend their practice. Last year, when I was looking for a surgeon, I was put off by the long wait, so I went to see another surgeon, Dr. Walters who only does VBG. He was very nice and his office staff was great, but I decided that VBG was not for me, so I waited for Dr. Selinkoff to have the RNY. It was the best thing I ever did. (See my profile for comments.) His practice is top notch. You can visit their website at sabariatric.com--it was extremely helpful. Also, the docs in the practice facilitate our monthly support group (Staple Mates) that meets the 2nd Wed. of each month at the Methodist Hospital(Medical Center location) conference room at 7:00 which happens to be tomorrow. There are many people who attend the support group who have used other surgeons in town. It's a good place to get feedback, etc., and a good chance to see and talk with Dr. Pilcher and Dr. Reiss prior to attending a seminar. Good luck!
