Question:
For about a week now, I have had a sharp and burning pain up high in my stomach.

It is to the right of my incision and I'm very uncomfortable. I called BTC yesterday and was told by the Doctor on call that he was pretty sure it was muscle strain. He said it was pretty common for someone who is 7-8 weeks post-op. I've pulled muscles before and this feels totally different. Has anyone else ever experienced this?    — Terrie R. I had the same pain, or atleast it sounds the same for quite a long time I slowly realize it was hunger. try eating when you have the pain and see if it helps, drinking more may help too your body only really has one way of telling you it is not getting enough of something. if none of this works and the pain stays around tell your doc you want him to find out if it is your gallbladder, i am 5 months out and at times if i dont eat soon enough i still get it,,,, good luck,,,

I had a muscle spasm at 3weeks post op. It was just to the left of my navel. It was o.k. when I was sitting still, but when I would stand, sit, bend over, or move much at all it would be an excruciating burning pain. As painful as it is, you have to stretch it out. I hope this helps.

Hi there. I had the same exact problem as you are saying. I just had my six week check up appointment yesterday and when I asked the doctor, he said the same thing, that I must have strained a muscle, and he also said that it was common. It was pretty painful last week, but now the pain has pretty much gone away. Hope this helps you out. Take care.

I had the same pain last week. Mine was a constant, burning sharp pain that got worse with certain moves. I had a cat scan and nothing showed up. The doc said i probably strained a muscle. I had the spasms at two weeks and this is nothing like a spasm or hunger pain. It is totally different. I can say that now it is gone. Mine was in my upper abd. on the left side. I am 8 weeks out from open RNY.
