Question:
I have a leak in my small stomach.....9 weeks post op

I have a leak in my small stomach that was discovered 1 week after surgery. It has now been 9 weeks and I still have the JP tube and a TPN line to feed me all those delicious nutrients. My doctor is pulling my JP tube every week (building the wall he say's)which is the most horrendous pain in the world. Is there a wall around our stomachs??? Will this leak ever end? And even though I have a leak I am so hungry and cannot have anything but clear liquids....for NINE weeks. I am just wanting reassurance that this will eventually end soon. Thanks for any input you may have... :)    — Kelly D. (posted on August 24, 2003)

I can definitely feel your pain. I had a lap rny on September 6, 2002. I had a leak in my stomach, a dvt, a hematoma of the spleen and other complications. I thought that the pain and complications would never end, but believe me they do. I was not allowed to eat or drink anything, not even water for 3 months. It was absolute hell! All I wanted was a cup of apple juice, I would have given anything for one. It does get better, I've lost 160 lbs so far, and I'm still loosing. Slowly but surely! I know sometimes it feels hopeless and you question your decision and your gumption, but whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Hang in there, and if you need to chat, you can email me at [email protected]. Good Luck, and don't lose hope!
