Question:
Can I go deer hunting so soon after surgery?

I found out earlier this week that I was approved for the surgery and got a surgery date. It is the week before I am supposed to be going deer hunting. My surgery would be on Tuesday. If everything goes okay, and I take it easy would it be possible for me to go hunting on Saturday? I am not worried about running through the woods because I go with a large group and could just sit on stand, but I am worried about the cold, and actually firing the gun. Anyone that might have had this experiece please let me know.    — Mini Gadget (posted on September 22, 2003)

Bridget Ann! You just need to sit your fanny down somewhere and miss a year of Bambi huntin gurl! :-) All in fun, but seriously, you won't even be a week post-op..I think that is too much too soon..hope you make the right decision...God Bless! Beth Key

Even if you have LAP, my "gut feeling" (pun intended) is that deer hunting four days after surgery is the last thing you are going to want to do! Instead of "gutting out a deer" you may feel like someone gutted you! lol At least if you are going to have an Open you will feel gutted. Even if you should feel good, you may damage something inside of your body. You would be taking an aweful chance. I'll bet you your gun may weigh more than 5 pounds? (Just guessing, I don't know). Anyway, why risk damaging your body? Next year you'll give the deer hell. Let them rest for a year. lol

Nope - you are not going to be in any condition to be anywhere but in bed or on the couch, recuperating from major surgery, honey! Even the car trip would be too much.

Oh my! I love your ambition. I haven't even had the surgery yet and know that you wouldn't even care about them damn deer once you have the surgery. Even if you had LAP, it's still going to be a good 2-3 weeks before you get out.
