Question:
Abdominoplasty and further weight loss

Has anyone had an abdominoplasty after their weight has stabilized, then started losing weight again? Just curious!    — koogy (posted on June 16, 2004)

I had my TT almost 2 months ago, with 5 lbs removed. I had the typical swelling for atleast a month and the scale didn't move one bit and I was really down about that! But, low and behold, and thank goodness, the swelling has subsided and I am losing pounds. From my pre TT days, I have lost 9 lbs. Doesn't seem like a whole lot, I know...considering that 5 of that was removed during surgery - but nonetheless, I am losing! Time will tell if it continues! best of luck to you!

I'm scheduled for an abdominoplasty on July 15. The surgical coordinator at both surgeons I saw said that often people will start to lose weight again following the surgery, but that not everyone does. I think they were trying to be encouraging, but not to set me up for disappointment if I don't lose any more than the 10-12 pounds of excess skin they'll remove. It would be great if I could lose another 10 to 15 pounds beyond that, but even if I don't, I'll be happy to have this pannus gone!

I had my tt on the 27th of may. The swelling is just starting to barely go away, but I've noticed I'm losing about 1-2 lbs a week. Nice little surprise!

I ahd my extended TT adn thigh lift one year ago and have recently lost more weight. I would like to drop another 15# and when I do will have my incisions 'revised' since my skin is loose on my belly again. I will not have any type of muscle work done as my abs are very hard in addition to the work that he did last year to tighten my rectus abdominus muscles. I have some serious jiggle again and want to get rid of the excess skin. I'm alot smaller now than a year ago now that I am doing a lot of cardio and weight training as well. My PS said this is not big deal and often WLS patients have some type of PS revision when their weight are truly stabilized. Diane N www.WeightlossSurgery.ws
