Question:
If I had open RNY do I need TT or just a panni?

I had Open RNY 15 months ago and need my skin removed now. I was told the only difference between TT and Panni was tightening of muscles. Did they tighten my muscles after my WLS? I do have a little loose skin above my belly bottom and want my love handles gone. Does panni do this? Anyone got any pictures I can see of a panni? Thank you!    — [Deactivated Member] (posted on October 5, 2004)

The best thing to do is have a consultation with a plastic surgeon who can advise you on what you need to have done. The surgeon can assess your muscles and excess tissue and body shape to see how you need to be "sculpted". Not something anyone on a forum can do!

Whether you had open or not has nothing to do with what kind of plastics you will need. As the other poster said, you need a consult with the plastic surgeon to evaluate what you need and no, they did not tighten your muscles when you had your RNY.

There are two types of surgeries. The first is a Panniculectomy, and this is just the removal of extra skin from the stomach area. The second is an Abdominoplasty, which removes skin but also includes the muscle tightening. Both of these are commonly referred to as a Tummy Tuck.
