Question:
Has Tri-Care Prime Retired Southern Region approved any Lap-Band Surgeries?

I know that TriCare varies from region to region (go figure, a military thing that isn't consistant LOL) I don't believe TriCare is approving Lap Band at all. They will only approve ByPass (at least that's how it was when I had mine). However, having said that, have you called your local TriCare office and asked if it is covered and what the requirements are? That would be your best bet to find out. If they don't cover the band at all, it won't get approved. Carmen

I would call Tricare's 800 number. I live in N.C. and the number for Tricare is 1-800-951-9301. Or possibly you could post this question on your states board. Maybe someone has already had one done in your state and had it covered by Tricare. Womack Army Medical Center doesn't do lap-band surgery at all. I wanted the Gastric bypass surgery, so I was fine with it. Good luck with your WLS journey.
