Question:
Anthem PPO-I have till Friday to decide if I want to switch

I currently have an insurere that's more expensive and has been a huge pain. Plus, since I've already begun the process, I'm worried about pre-existing conditions. I'm going to have to stretch to show a medically supervised diet. My BMI is 42 with Comorbs Chronic back pain, hip and ankle pain, high cholesterol, depression. Can anyone help me? I'll get more details hopefully see the actual policy before I have to decide. Thanks    — kcanges (posted on March 7, 2001)

Kathryn - you don't mention what state you live in....for example....I live in Ohio and have Aetna...and my surgeon's office got me approved over the phone in one day (I received my approval letter 3 days later)...but there are some who have Aetna and live in other states that have difficulty getting approved...I would go to the insurers sections of the website....and see for you state who is approving surgeries the most....as far as diets...I told them the Scarsdale Diet, Slim Fast, Jenny Craig in California, etc. My PCP never actually put me on a diet...I was put on a diet in california by a military doctor, but there is no way to get those records..the base closed down...good luck in your quest!! I was all in a twitter when I got the news and I posted a little quickly. It's Anthem BC/BS of Colorado. I did get one reply from someone who's used them in this state. She's having surgery this month (YEAH!). So, I think it'll be good to switch. If anyone else has info about Anthem BC/BS PPO in Colorado, by all means, let me know. Thanks to everyone for your help.
