Question:
What could be causing this burning pain just right of my incision?

I just called my surgeon & he won't be in until Monday & the nurse is off all week. I am wondering if any of you could help me on this. Starting 3 or 4 days ago, I have this burning pain just to the right of my incision (open RNY, hernia repair & gall bladder removal 11/26/2001). About 3 inches up from my naval & 2 inches to the right. If I reach for something or turn a certain way, it feels like a sharp stabbing pain. Other times, it feels like a burning pain. I have even made a sore there because everytime it hurts me, I will press on the area. It doesn't hurt all the time & mainly bothers me at night. It even woke me up 2 times during the night last night when I was sleeping on my side. I have not done anything out of the ordinary so I don't think I have pulled anything. It was hurting so bad last night, I almost went to the emergency room. If it does it again tonight, I will probably go in & at least get an ultra sound. Also, there's no bulging, but it does feel like it might be a little swollen. Can anyone help? Thanks....    — Lori M. (posted on March 21, 2002)

I had the same conplaint on the left side. My doc said it was the inside sutures had not dissolved yet. That they were pullinh and maybe causing a muscle cramp. This may be your problem too but ALWAYS check with your doc.
