Question:
I'm applying for an individual policy and I'm not sure how to answer...

The following 2 questions are asked on the application for Anthem BC/BS plan: Has any person applying for coverage been hospitalized, had surgery, or advised that hospitalization or surgery may be required in the future for any reason, including inpatient and/or outpatient surgery? Has any person applying for coverage sought advice or medical treatment, or been advised by a medical or social practitioner to seek advice or treatment for any condition or symptoms not indicated by your answers to any questions in the preceding section(s)? I was declined by my current policy b/c of an iron-clad exclusion (United Healthcare) about 6 months ago. Do I have to answer yes to these questions?    — Tonya S. (posted on March 28, 2002)

If you actually went to a doctor for a condition, then you must disclose the reason for your visit.

Tonya- Unfotunately YES, I just want you to know that I sell Ins. and what may happen if you said No is that the insurance company will find out from your other Ins. when you go to get this operation, and they will NOT pay for anything and will probably drop you. also they do not have to refund any premiums paid either. Answering Yes does not necessarily mean that you will be declined coverage, they can either accept as is ,decline, or issue a rider(excludes coverage for pre existing conditions). Lying on an application only comes back to hurt you! Best of Luck -David
