I too never had an elevated bp previously, except during pregnancy, but just prior to surgery my bp went to 160/100. Whether it was related to my upcoming surgery or from my obesity, I don't know. I had my surgery. I am six months out and at goal and having my TT in 34 days. Good luck to you.

Me too on the elevated BP about 2 weeks before surgery. Was always borderline but it went up like crazy 2 weeks before my surgery, think highest reading was 170/110, my doctor and I figured it had to be stress. My PCP said they wouldn't do my surgery with it elevated like that so put me on BP meds for the first time in my life! It did come down in time for my surgery, in fact morning of surgery it was 136/80 :) Since surgery it's still been a little elevated, probably post-surgeyr stress on my body - ha - I'm 9 weeks post-op and BP meds have been now reduced a half dose and I imagine I'll be off them all together soon ;) So, get yourself on some BP meds so you can get your surgery :)

My surgery was delayed because of high blood pressure. I had new meds added and today ( a wekk later) my blood pressure is lower. Now that my blood pressure is better I am GLAD my surgery date was changed because I am having WLS to be healthy, no use having problems from day one, right? GOOD LUCK... WITH THE PROPER CARE IT WON'T TAKE LONG... I ONLY HAD A TEN DAY DELAY. Blessings for your journey and joy for your days. We cannot change the wind but we can adjust our sails!!!
