Question:
Who honors our Restaurant Cards???

I have ask Friches & they DO NOT honor our card nor will they allow us to order from the childrens menu. Does any one know of any Restaurants that will except the card or let us order from the childrens menu???    — Janet C. (posted on July 5, 2002)

Hi Janet. I've never used the card. But here are some restaurants that have never turned me down for ordering from the kids menu or the appetizer menu. TGIFridays, Bennigans, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Outback Steak House, Chili's, Applebees, Shoney's (don't even try it if someone else at your table is eating anything that's "all you can eat"), and Denny's. I'm sure this will vary with each restaurant (some will have idiot managers who won't give an inch.) I'm in Florida and several "local chains" like Woody's BBQ, Sonny's BBQ, Bono's, Cedar River Seafood and St. John's Seafood have also allowed me to order from the kid's menu. My best "restaurant relationship" has been cultivated with several local privately owned restaurants. They now know me and will happily cook half servings or items not even on the menu for me. Personally, I think the key is not to make a big deal of it. I don't explain the surgery to them. I simply tell them I don't want a big meal, is there any problem if I order something from the appetizer or kid's menu? The only time I've ever asked for it and not gotten the reduction was at a chain called Sweet Tomatoes (they have FABULOUS salads). I told them that was fine and then my husband and I and our two kids took our money and went elsewhere. Simple as that. I'm not going to argue with a restaurant that does not want to do business with me. If Friches doesn't want your business.....take it elsewhere. Good Luck!

I keep forgetting to take my card but I've not had any trouble with restaurants. I simply tell my waiter/waitress that I recently had my stomach stapled (its easier to say that than I had lap rny etc etc) and I can only tolerate certain amounts of food. Can you accomodate me? And they have in every instance thus far. They actually have the manager come over to make sure everything's going ok. The people at IHOP see me come in and inquire how my weightloss is going which is really nice!!!! Hope this helps!!!!

I'm from Upstate NY and most Restaurants will NOT give you a break. So far the only two are a KFC that will let me have the child's price on the Buffet, and a Cracker Barrel that will let anyone eat from the childs menu.
