Question:
Could this be a hernia or...

just the sutures healing. I had Lap RNY several weeks ago and as the incisions started to heal the one where they put the camera in hurt more than the rest. O.K. I expect this. But now I would think it would be getting better. When I went to the doc on my week follow up he felt the lump under the incision were the sutures healing, but now over a week later this knot seems to have gotten bigger and the pain is still there. Its kind of like a burning pain when I turn, bend over or turn over in bed. The pain is not excruciating but I don't want to ignore something either.    — Karen S. (posted on August 31, 2003)

I would go see your doctor and get his opinion. Is it pink in that area? I had the lightest pink spot SEVERAL inches from where I'd had a surgery opening a good month before. All the sudden I had this burning sort of lump. I assumed it was a hernia, which I thought was just the worst thing possible. Well that was until I almost died of an abscess! Originally it was not raised and just the very lightest pink color there and even my PCP thought nothing of it beforehand. Like I said I nearly died so you might consider at least having it looked at.
