Question:
Has anyone developed diverticulitis from having wls?

I was diagnosed with diverticulosis this summer about 8 months after my RNY. However, the gastroenterologist assured me that it was a condition of age and had nothing to do with the surgery. I take a relaxant for the colon and am doing fine. I do know that my parents had this also. If you research diverticulitis, you will find that most people over the age of 50 are prone to it. I, too, have developed a problem with diverticulitis attacks AFTER having RNY (in May 2004). I was also wondering if it was related to my WLS. I had a colonoscopy about 6 months post-op and had no diverticula pockets found by the doctor, so it has to be a new development. I just don't know if it is related. Fiber is not an issue - I get plenty - and am rarely ever constipated (more likely the other end of the spectrum!).
