Question:
Open RNY 12-27-01. I developed an infection that lasted 7 weeks.

Had LAP incisional hernia repair 6-18-02. The hernia was large. It ran the length of my WLS incision. Today I have a low grade fever and there are 2 areas of redness forming on and around my WLS incision exactly where I had infection before. I contacted my surgeon and started antibiotics tonight. If my fever goes up, if the redness gets larger in size, or if other symptoms develop, my surgeon will act promptly and possibly put me in the hospital for IV antibiotics. I am just soooooo scared and worried how big an infection I may be developing. Has this happened to anyone else? I am feeling very down and your thoughts and support would be appreciated.    — Judith A. (posted on July 11, 2002)
