The best according to whose standards? I don't know of any polls or the National Institute of Health coming out with their top 10 list for gastric bypass surgeons. Most of us would recommend our surgeons, but I would suggest that you find doctors in your area that do the procedure you are interested in, attend their support group meetings where you will meet lots of their patients and start asking questions. In fact, go to the Find a Doc link at the top of this page and you can research surgeons by your state, to include comments from their patients.

Dr. Carlos Ferrari! He has performed over 1300 surgeries and assisted in 1700 more. He is in Houston and is affiliated with Neweigh and also has his own practice.

Dr. Warnock in Wichita Falls, TX is absolutely wonderful. An angel in cowboy boots. He has been doing this for 27 years has only lost 2 patients. He does between 30-40 per month. I am 10 days post-op and I am eating and exercising and I feel great. He is very compassionate. I have not hearde any of his patients say nything negative. Once a month we have a support group meeting and he is there. He has mastered this procedure to the point that he is done in about 40 minutes which is good because you have less anethesia. I hope this helps. Cheryl

Well, are you asking who can cut a straighter line? Who's staples are the sharpest or more uniformaly? I think you might want to know who overall can perform the surgery, THEN provide a least troublesome recovery. My answer is the Bariatriac Treatment Center in Wylie TX. I am 5 weeks post op and have had no complications. However as I discussed this with my nurses there, who incidentally have had the same surgery, It is all about YOUR attitude going into it. What are you willing to do to make sure your recovery is trouble free? Do you even know what you can do? If you don't, e-mail me and I will tell you.

This is difficult to answer - we only have our own experiences to draw from and hearsay from others. But, IN MY OPINION, the best surgeon in Texas (and probably the world) is Dr. Kenneth Warnock in Wichita Falls, Texas. I live in Dallas and went to Wichita Falls for Dr. Warnock to do my open RNY. He has been doing weight loss surgery for over 20 years and has an excellent track record. Not only is he a terrific surgeon, he is a superb human being and he genuinely loves his patients and loves watching them regain their lives. I would recommend him to anyone and if I had to do this again, I would -as long as Dr. W did it. I lost 160 pounds in 14 months, had my tummy tuck and have lost another 15 since then. This remarkable person literally saved my life.

There are alot of excellant Drs. You will have to choose one that best suites ur needs and you feel comfortable with. I went with Dr Wittgrove in San Diego, Ca he is the same dr that did Carnie Wilson...I traveled from NV just to have him do my surgery and I wasnt going to settle for anyone else...To me, he is the best!!!!!

Well, let me cast another vote for the Wylie BTC in Texas. I had surgery with Dr. Julie Leverton there, and I can honestly say, it was THE BEST experience I have ever had at any hospital, bar none. Dr. Leverton is wonderful. If you call her about something after surgery, you can expect to hear back from her personally within about 15 mins unless she is in surgery. Please read my profile. I would recommend BTC to anyone. I have had ZERO complications and am currently down 120 pounds.

Hi...as everyone else said, everybody thinks their own surgeon is "the best". I'll put my 2 cents in too...Dr Carl Rosati (Albany NY). The man is committed to helping morbidly obese patients regain their health and lives. Not only is he a brilliant surgeon, but very compassionate and patient-oriented. He insists on careful follow-up care and is always available when needed. I trusted him with my life, and due that I never had surgery before, trust is a big issue with me. I would recommend him highly for anyone considering Gastric Bypass. Cindy

Without a doubt my surgeon Dr. Charles Goldman is the very best. He is from West Virginia and I live in Ky, but he is a dedicated bariatric surgeon, caring and thoughtful and his skills are superb. You are his patient before, during, and afterward the procedure, never fails to check on you and answers all your phone calls. His staff are an excellent group of people. He saved my life, I'm down from 389 to 220 now and feeling great.

Don't know about Texas..But I'd like to put in a good word for my 2 surgeons in California. Dr. Gregg Jossart and Dr. John Feng in San Francisco. Very professional, warm, caring and always makes time for you no matter how silly the questions may be. They try to make sure that your journey to weight loss be a easy and pleasant one. I would highly recommend both Dr.'s to anyone who is considering this surgery. I couldn't have asked for better care.

My surgeon was Dr. Cribbins an associate of Dr. Hamn. Both are located in Plano at Plano Presbyterian. I had VBG but he does RNY and Lap Band. Dr. C is very gentle, easy to talk to and compassionate. Another great doc is Dr. Barzune at Medical City. I chose Dr. C because he was on my insurance plan. I have had no regrets eight weeks post op. Good luck!
