Call and ask to speak with a manager or a supervisor, customer service rep. does not know what she is talking about. You are correct in what you are saying.

They might be asking for proof of prior coverage. If you didn't have a lapse of insurance coverage for more than 63 days before that insurance there may be a waive for the pre-existing clause. If you had another policy with another company they should have sent you a letter stating when your coverage ended. If you don't have that letter, contact your old insurance company and have them send or fax you a copy. You can then forward it (or perhaps they can fax it for you) to the new insurance company. **Robin**

You may want to speak with your State Government Insurance Office for laws covering "pre-existing condition". Some states have laws which limit the number of months/years or types of illness which can be considered as a pre-existing condition. If your husband works for the Fed, they also have rules which benefit the employee. It also sounds like you need to get your benefits administrator involved at your husband's job.
