Question:
Irritated pouch?? 14 months post op

3 days ago I started noticing pain in my back (shoulder blade area)when I swallow. Anything, water, saliva, food etc. I called to see my surgeon and he has been deployed!!(I am sad!!) I will see the other surgeon who helped with my surgery and thats good since he hasnt deployed yet, and I do like him. However the first available appt isnt till mid April. I did speak with the nurse and explained to her what is going on, 1 year previous to surgery I had the same thing happen and it was an irritated esophigial muscle I was put on pepcid for a month and it was better after that( it was irritated due to acid reflux) Now however I dont have acid reflux!! She said I may have irritated my pouch and need to go back to clear liquids for 24 hours and slowly work up to stage 4 eating..has anyone else had this happen???    — kittycat (posted on March 31, 2003)

Hi Michelle, fellow Spencer patient here! I have no clue as to why this may be happening, maybe someone will be able to offer some good advice. If not, why don't you go to the support group meeting on Thurs. night and pull Doc Spencer aside, like most of the women do anyway (hee hee), and get his advice?! He may be more in demand due to the other surgeons deployments, but I'm sure he would be willing to discuss your problem knowing how hard it is to get in to see him. I hope you get some relief soon! And I hope to see you Thursday evening. BTW, you look AWESOME!!
