Question:
Anyone been approved outside of their group with CIGNA?

I live in Central CA & have a referral to Dr. Ostroff at UCSF but can't get in for an initial consultation for 5 mths! CIGNA says my group (Medcore) will only refer me to him or Fresno, although Dr. Coirin is nearby and listed as one of their participating providers. Has anyone been approved outside of their group or know of anyone in Medcore who does this surgery?    — duane B. (posted on April 18, 2003)

I have CIGNA in Indiana. The facility and doctor are not listed in their lists of preferred doctors. What that means is my policy which usually pays 85/15, would only pay 70/30. That's it!
