Question:
I have already had an SRVG in 2001 and am in need of a revision

I will be using Dr John Huse in Indianapolis at the St Vincent's Bariatric Center. Has anyone ever used him? I am looking for any positive or negative feedback. I didn't do enough research the first time and this time I just want to be sure that my physician is truly qualified for this type of procedure. I have holes in my stapleline and the revision has to be done soon. The inurance will only approve me for a Roux en y    — torran P. (posted on August 27, 2003)

Torran, there is a group for revision people where you can ask questions, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OSSG-Revision/. If I were you I'd try to get revised to DS. It's really your best hope for not needing yet another revision in a few years! Despite what your insurance says you may be able to push for it; most denials are based on an old NIH designation of DS being "experimental" (which it is not, been done since 1988), but that label was removed in June. You can get info on DS and ask questions on the message board at duodenalswitch.com. Whether you get a DS or an RNY, it is extremely important that your surgeon have lots of experience doing revisions!
