Question:
Did your feet shrink after WLS?

I am a woman with size 11 1/2 wide feet. The answer to this questions will not make or break my decision to have this surgery, but I am curious (and hopeful!)    — Polly F. (posted on July 27, 2000)

Hi. I was a size 11 WW. I had surgery 10/4/99. I started at 419 pounds. Today I weigh 206. I can now buy a size 10M shoe sometimes. Most of the time I wear a 10 W just for comfort. Yes, your feet will probably get smaller. I love it. I had to buy all new shoes because I kept walking out of my old ones. LOL Beth.

Yes, they can and do... I lost a whole shoe size.. So when I had to buy a new wardrobe it went from top to bottom.. ;-)

Of course your bones won't shrink, but if you have fat deopsits on your heels and toes, your feet may indeed become shorter. You'll almost certainly go to a medium or narrow width. Alas, my feet got narrower, but not shorter. A lot of us end up wearing smaller shoes post-op. You could very well be one of them. It's a really nice side effect of WLS!

Yes, my feet have gotten smaller. I have always had little feet (size 6 1/2), but now my shoes are loose. My toes are also more slender looking, and so are my fingers. (Watch out that you don't lose your rings.) It's just another perk to WLS!

Hi Polly, Your feet will DEFINITELY shrink when you lose weight. I wore an 11 wide myself but after surgery and losing 66 lbs, I am wearing a 10 medium. Hope this helps!

Hi. Yes, I went from a 10-11W to a 9 1/2 medium. Even if you don't shrink in length you'll probably shrink in width.

my favorite hoes are zebra mules with very high heels in a size 10. my hubby took me out for a romantic dinner on vacation. i am only down 30 pounds so far (6 weeks post) and i told him he had to help me walk cause i am falling out of my shoes. they are so big like everything i own but i love them. he couldn't believe even my feet a shrinking. what a great thing though to have bones in my feet again!
